Supporting the growth of underrepresented populations in the world of classical music

The Opportunity:

In 2018, the New England Conservatory Preparatory School was granted a $2.5 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to launch the Boston Bridge to Equity and Achievement in Music (BEAM) initiative in consortium with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, the Community Music Center of Boston, Project STEP, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. They needed support from the Advancement and Engagement Department to provide the annual report that would impact the continuous funding for the following year.

What I did:

  • Drafted the progress report for the grant.

  • Collaborated closely with a contracting writer to finalize the progress report.

  • Closely managed the approval process of the report among senior leadership to ensure its submission before the deadline.

  • Served as the point of contact for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to confirm completion of all submission materials.

My Impact:

  • Submitted the report before the deadline.

  • Successfully secured the grant funds for the following year.
